Last-Minute Invitation: Davis History Walking Tour (Jan 7)
- Jan 2
- 1 min read
I’m offering a small-group Davis history walking tour this Wednesday, January 7. One participant is already registered, and I’d love to open it up to a few more people who enjoy local history, stories, and walking downtown with fresh eyes.
On this small-group walking tour, we’ll explore:
Davis as Patwin land, and how Indigenous presence and stewardship frame the town’s history
The arrival of settlers and how agriculture, animal husbandry, and the railroad reshaped the region
Why Davis became a university town and how land-grant farming fits into that story
The lives of ordinary and influential people who shaped downtown Davis
A reflective walk along Putah Creek, connecting landscape to history
